Lahore, 28th April: The court has granted a five-day physical remand of Javed Latif, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) minister in the National Assembly.

According to reports, a local court has ordered to keep Javed Latif under a five-day physical custody after he was arrested in a case making anti-state remarks.

Javed Latif was brought to the court of Judicial Magistrate Sabir Hussain by the police.

The advocate representing the government asked for a 14-day remand of the PML-N MNA citing that his custody is required for further investigation and a photogrammetric test.

However, the lawyer representing Latif opposed the prosecutor’s petition for the physical remand.

Latif’s lawyer argued that a conspiracy has been hatched against his client by a PTI worker along with the police after an FIR was registered to take political revenge.

The lawyer said that the MNA has been accused of making statements against the country and pleaded with the court to cancel the case.

However, the court has approved a five-day remand and has ordered the police to present Javed Latif before the court again on May 3.

It is to be noted that the police took Javed Latif into custody on Tuesday after a session’s court dismissed his bail.
