ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Home Affairs, Senator Rehman Malik has joined the protest sit-in and expressed solidarity against the tragedy.
Addressing the protest, Rehman Malik said, “The tragedy of Machh is not just of the Shiites, but of the whole of Pakistan. First of all, I offer my condolences to the families of the Machh tragedy. I am shedding tears of blood over the tragedy. Today is the sixth day and the martyrs have not been buried yet.”
Rehman Malik said, “I appeal to the Prime Minister to put aside his ego and go to Quetta immediately. In my books, I have mentioned many times that Daish [ISIS] is growing in Pakistan. Sixty thousand young people in Pakistan have been trained by Daish. It is the way of the Daish to cut the throat”.
“Even during our government, more than a hundred Shiite friends were martyred. For the first time, I am saying that a solution should be found in consultation with the Shiite community. The current tragedy should not be politicized.”
Malik added, “Prime Minister Imran Khan is the Prime Minister of every sect of Pakistan. The families of the victims of the tragedy have a small demand that the Prime Minister come to us. Whoever commits such terrorism is creating Shia-Sunni riots in Pakistan.”
Senator Rehman Malik further said, “I am urging the government not to ignore the Machh tragedy. A judicial commission should have been set up under the chairmanship of a Supreme Court judge on the Machh tragedy. For admission, I took notice on the first day of the Machh tragedy. Either the President or the Prime Minister of Pakistan should have been present in Quetta.”
Malik stated, “When the commission on the Machh tragedy is set up, it remains to be seen where Daish’s centers are in Pakistan. To the best of my knowledge, ISIS has planned with reference to China, Pakistan and Iran”. Senator Rehman Malik expressed hope that the government of Pakistan would fully investigate the Machh tragedy.
“Was the security asleep in Machh when the incident took place? Police and law enforcement agencies are there to protect the public”, stated Rehman Malik. “The tragedy was supposed to lead to the formation of several JITs. Whatever commission is made on the Macch tragedy should not be for show”, he added.
“I have written to the Prime Minister and asked him to take notice of the tragedy. The Prime Minister should get on the plane soon and leave for Quetta. Let me say that if there is injustice with the Shiites today, so tomorrow, there will be injustice with the Sunnis as well.”
“The bereaved families want the Prime Minister to come and listen to their grievances. It is easy to say, but the one whose son has been martyred should be asked. I have come to the protesters in Islamabad with a heavy heart. I urge the government to end the political tensions immediately.”
Senator Rehman Malik further added, “Finally, I demand the Prime Minister to go to Quetta so that the martyrs can be buried.”
