Judicial officer’s wife in Rizwana torture case arrested after bail rejected
A District and Sessions court Monday rejected the bail application of the accused Soumya and subsequently she was arrested on court orders.
Judge Farrukh Farid, speaking to the prosecution, said that there should be no fear in finding the truth, collect the evidence honestly, do not take pressure, the investigation should be on merit.
The District and Sessions Court heard Rizwana torture case of young maid in which Civil Judge’s wife of accused Soumya Asim’s bail application was heard.
The prosection presented the record before the court, after which the court adjourned the hearing of the case till 10 o’clock on the request of the lawyer of the accused.
When the hearing was held again, the judge inquired that where is the record of the case against the accused Soumya Asim?
The accused Soumya Asim was called to the rostrum, the lawyer of the accused also appeared, and said that the accused Soumya Asim appeared before the JIT and pleaded her innocence.
The police wrote in the record that the accused Soumya Asim did not commit violence.
Soumya Asim repeatedly asked to send the maid back, the girl sat at the bus stop for two and a half hours, who was not able to get up at that time.
The Police report claimed that Soumya Asim handed over the young girl to her mother safely.
The JIT called the girl’s mother and the driver were called and now JIT report awaiting.
The defender lawyer said, is it necessary to send Soumya Asim to jail?
The prosecution requested to cancel the bail of the accused Soumia Asim.
Judge Farrukh Fareed remarked that the accused Soumia Asim is bound to be involved in the investigation in all circumstances.
The officer obtained video of the incident?
The judge remarked that this is a case of interim bail, and defendant should start his arguments, whatever evidence he have in the defense, he can bring forward in the investigation.
The lawyer of the accused pleaded for adjournment of the case till the JIT report, on which the court said that this is not a ground for adjournment of the hearing on the interim bail application, the prosecutor said that our investigation has been complete so far, now the arrest should be made.
Judge Farrukh Fareed remarked that the task of the investigator was to get evidence from both sides.
It is not possible to adjourn the case until the report of the JIT.
