The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) will go on strike on January 6 — the day of the Judicial Commission (JCP) meeting, where the appointment of Lahore High Court Judge, Justice Ayesha Malik to the Supreme Court of Pakistan will be discussed.

In an assertion, PBC Vice-Chairman Khushdil Khan said that the chamber would notice a strike and totally blacklist courts upon the arrival of the JCP meeting.

Khan said he couldn’t understand the reasoning behind selecting Justice Malik to the summit court, adding that ladies judges can be appointed in High court, however rank should be considered.

The PBC official further expressed that Chief Justice Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed had effectively said that the question of selecting new adjudicators ought to be passed on to the approaching top appointed authority.

It is relevant to take note of that the CJP had proposed Justice Malik’s name for arrangement to the Supreme Court for the subsequent time a month ago.
