Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut who is used to controversies has recently come under fire for referring to 1947 Independence as ‘bheek’. Following the public backlash to ‘freedom comment’, the actress has offered to return her recent award.

According to reports of the Hindustan Times, the Indian actress has responded to recent criticism by saying that is not only willing to return the Padma Shri award but also issue an apology if she can be proven wrong. She has added that if someone can ‘enlighten’ her about the events surrounding the Independence in 1947.
It is pertinent to note that the Bollywood diva landed in hot waters following her comment that India gained freedom under BJP rule in 2014.

According to the Hindustan Times, the actress took to Instagram and shared excerpts from a book, claiming that she is setting “the records straight”. Reportedly, Ranaut wrote that the book clearly mentions 1857 as the “first collective fight for freedom”. She went on to say that she is aware of the events of the war however there is no mention of a war in 1947. She added if anyone can enlighten her with regards to the events surrounding the ‘War of Independence 1947’, she will willingly return the Padma Shri and apologize.

Moreover, Ranaut has stated that she is ready to face the consequences saying, “As far as Aazadi in 2014 concerned I specifically said physical Aazadi we may have but consciousness and conscience of India was set free in 2014”.
