Karachi downpour, roads submerged in water

According to the report of Baaghi TV, downpour of rain in Karachi has once again made the lives of the citizens miserable, roads submerged in water.

Roads in most parts of Karachi were submerged in water. Provincial Ministers reportedly visited the affected areas last night, with poor K-Electric system making the lives of the citizens miserable, according to reports.

Roads of Korangi, Creek Road, North Nazimabad, KDA, Chowrangi and Nagan Chowrangi remained submerged in water, causing difficulties to the citizens. Many feeders have tripped. The lights have been missing for several hours in North Nazimabad, Lyari, Saddar, Malir and Korangi. Residents of Liaqatabad, Ancholi, Federal B Area are also suffering.

At the direction of Sindh Chief Minister, members of the provincial cabinet visited different areas of the city last night. Murtaza Wahab reviewed the situation of water board pumping stations in Lyari, Clifton and other areas. Local Government Minister Nasir Shah, Saeed Ghani visited Liaquat National Hospital, surrounding areas and described the situation as satisfactory.

A spokesman for K-Electric said power had been restored in FB Area and KDA Scheme 33. As a precautionary measure, power was cut off in Model Colony, Gulistan-e-Jauhar 12, 13, Liaquatabad 2 and 3. Power supply to the affected areas will be restored as soon as drainage and safety clearance is received.

The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent rains with thunderstorms in different cities of Sindh and Balochistan for the week.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department released rainfall data in Karachi yesterday. The highest rainfall of 94 mm was recorded at PAF Base Faisal, 72.7 mm at Surjani Town and 70 mm at Saddar. 67.9 mm of rainfall was recorded in University Road, 54.4 mm in University Road and 52.5 mm in Gulshan-e-Hadid, 43.6 mm in Landhi and 39.5 mm in Nazimabad, 33.3 mm in North Karachi, 22 mm in Kemari and 11 mm in Jinnah Terminal. Mm rain was recorded.
