Karachi: The beleaguered residents of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) have expressed their grief and demanded action against DHA and Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) for their gross negligence in not creating and/or maintaining a proper civic infrastructure for the residents, in spite of collecting high amounts of charges and taxes.

According to sources, residents of all phases of DHA have made some demands out of frustration over the situation. According to sources, not only citizens but members of the government are worried about this extremely traumatic situation and are suffering from the same grief.

Member of Sindh Assembly, Shehzad Qureshi, says that the situation DHA has been submerged in rain and dirty river water and no one is ready to listen to the voices of the residents of the metropolitan city.

In a video message, he said that the Prime Minister and the President should take strict action against those responsible and those who have been doing business in the name of these institutions till date should be held accountable.

According to sources, apart from government MPAs, some DHA residents have also demanded that those responsible should be held accountable. The demands of the residents of DHA is as follows:

  1. Audit of crrent and past Accounts of CBC and transparent disclosure to the residents.
  2. Accountability for spending huge amounts on a totally non-functioning drainage system made in the middle of the roads.
  3. Award damages to those residents who have been affected by the clogged drains and gutter lines during the rains.
  4. Immediately fix the broken roads, drainage and sewerage lines.
  5. Ensure adequate water supply for the residents.
  6. Install an affluent treatment plant.
