Karachi will be 'clean and green' in one month

Local Government Minister of Sindh Nasir Hussain Shah announced on Monday that with the cleanliness drive to be launched by Sindh Government on September 21st, Karachi will look ‘clean and green’ in only a month.

Accompanied by Minister for Information, Archives and Labor of Sindh Saeed Ghani, Shah claimed that all the waste of city will be collected and disposed of within one month of the campaign. Requesting the media to play a part in cleaning and promoting cleanliness of the provincial capital by portraying a positive image of the provincial authorities.

The capacity of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), after the meeting with Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, will be increased from collecting 5000 tonnes of waste to 16000 tonnes per day.

Garbage Transfer Stations (GTS) will be installed temporarily throughout the city and after the collection of waste, will be removed, he added.

Karachi’s pollution reached an alarming stage and public has been attacked by germs of different diseases including typhoid, hepatitis, skin cancer and others.
