Lahore, 14th January: Action has been taken against the policemen who were involved in the incident of burning of a Hindu shrine in Karak, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Baaghi TV: According to reports, DPO Karak has issued orders to dismiss the police personnel who were negligent in the incident of burning of the Hindu temple.
SHO Rehmatullah and ASI Mujeebullah are among the ones who had been dismissed. DPO Karak said that the cowardice, irresponsibility and negligence of the police personnel at the time of the incident had been proved. The Inquiry Officer has recommended SPFRP Kohat to punish 28 Frontier Reserve Police.
On January 9 this month, Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Sanaullah Abbasi had said that Maulana Faizullah, a key accused in the demolition of a temple in Karak, had been arrested. The accused had assisted in gathering people to demolish the temple.
As per earlier reports, a Hindu temple was set on fire by angry mobs in the Karak area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The oldest Hindu temple in the Terry area of Karak was being expanded when hundreds of angry mobs arrived and set the temple on fire. Most of the building was also demolished.
Local police were also present on the occasion but no action was taken by them. Police remained silent spectators. Hindu leader Rohit Kumar Advocate alleged that residents of the area violated the peace agreement and the Supreme Court order has been demolished.
DPO Irfanullah Khan said that cases have been registered against more than 350 people, including key political figures.
