The Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that Kashmiris on both sides of the ceasefire line and the world over are observing India’s independence day as Black Day to register their protest against India’s forcible occupation of their motherland.

DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal, terming India a usurper, said the country that has deprived lakhs of Kashmiris of their fundamental rights and snatched their freedom by occupying their motherland has no justification whatsoever to celebrate its Independence Day.

He said the forced annexation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir by the Modi-led fascist regime has once again exposed India’s neo-colonial, authoritarian and pro-fascist mindset that seeks to control Kashmir and the Kashmiris by any means.

Referring to the commitments made by Indian leadership to grant Kashmiris their birthright to self-determination, he said that it was unfortunate that India had backtracked from the pledges its leaders had made to the people of Kashmir at the international level.
