Keamari gas had greater quantity of toxic substance: Dr Attaur Rehman

ISLAMABAD, Feb 19 (APP):Chairman Prime Minister Task Force for Science and Technology Dr Attaur Rehman said that the toxic gas which affected large population in Karachi was containing large quantity of allergens and other pollen dust in its contents.

He said its further chemical examination is still underway at Karachi Institute of Chemistry under the supervision of the country’s top scientist and Director of the Institute Dr Iqbal Chaudhry and his team of qualified medical technicians.

In a talk show programme of a private news channel, he told that the hazardous attack of such chemicals on human respiratory system is selective, with varying intensity of impact from person to person. For this purpose, he added that international standards of safety were being followed for tubed loadings and unloading of soybeans by properly dressed and masked dock labors.

Dr Attaur Rehman informed that the tragedies of toxic gas emitting from soybean have earlier been happened in Barcelona where over 20 persons were died and 958 were hospitalized with many were kept under intensive care. Looking back into last thirty years, he told that similar incidents were also happened in USA and France with common reason of soybean.

Dr Attaur Rehman, who is also the Vice-Chairman of Knowledge Economy Task Force, told that under the chairmanship of Prime Minister, the Task Force is actively working on strengthening of economy and preparing all the stakeholder for security threats like cyber, hacking or virus attacks. Efforts for adopting artificial intelligence as heavy tool are also made, he added.
