Khairpur Police arrested so-called Pir, Dr. and SHO in connection with household maid death

Khairpur police have apprehended a spiritual leader known as a Pir, in connection with the death of a 10-year-old housemaid at his residence, where she allegedly succumbed to torture. Additionally, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ranipur police station and a doctor have been taken into custody on charges of aiding and concealing the crime.

According to law enforcement, the victim, Fatima, aged 10 and hailing from the Khanwahan locality, had been employed as a domestic worker at the residence of Pir Syed Asad Shah Jilani in the Ranipur region of Khairpur.

The mother of the deceased informed the authorities that her daughter had been subjected to fatal violence, as evidenced by visible signs of abuse on her body.

Following the circulation of distressing videos on social media, depicting the young girl in severe physical distress, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in Sukkur suspended the SHO of Ranipur. These videos triggered outrage and disbelief among internet users.

One of the videos exhibited evident marks of torture on Fatima’s body, while another displayed her in a state of distress within a room. Regrettably, her remains were laid to rest without a post-mortem examination.

In response to the viral videos, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mir Rohail Khan Khoso promptly reached the Ranipur police station and apprehended the accused individual, Syed Asad Shah Jilani. Moreover, legal proceedings have been initiated involving the girl’s family members. The SSP emphasized that regardless of the accused individual’s influence, they would face substantial penalties.

Simultaneously, the authorities detained the SHO of Ranipur and a doctor on allegations of assisting and concealing the criminal act. The doctor is accused of producing a counterfeit medical report for the girl. Subsequently, a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) containing footage from CCTV cameras was recovered from SHO Amir Chang. The police are actively working to retrieve historical recordings from the haveli’s premises using this DVR.

The entire investigative team, under the directive of DIG Javed Jaskani, is engaged in the comprehensive inquiry into this tragic incident.
