ADELAIDE (2nd November, 2022): Indian cricket superstar, Virat Kohli, breaks records by becoming the top run scorer in T20 World Cup history, in a match against Bangladesh in Adelaide, on Wednesday.
According to reports, in his 23rd T20 World Cup innings, Kohli outscored former Sri Lankan captain, Mahela Jayawardene by 1,016 runs. The previous record was maintained by Jayawardene at 31 innings.

Tweeting the news on Twitter, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, “Yet another milestone unlocked”.
It is pertinent to note that Kohli broke the record during India’s match against Bangladesh in Adelaide. According to ESPN Cricinfo, Kohli “passed the milestone with an average of more than 80 and a strike rate of more than 130 in T20 World Cups”. Following the new record, Jayawardene congratulated Kohli with a special message, “Records are meant to be broken”. The former captain added, “Brilliant mate, congratulations!”

Apart from this, Kohli also holds the record for the highest run-scorer in T20 internationals.
