KPCTA organizes moot on COVID-19 impact on tourism

PESHAWAR, Jan 29 (APP): The experts and speakers at a conference scheduled to be held in Islamabad on Saturday would discuss the COVID-19 impacts on tourism and the steps being taken for boosting the sector in current scenario.

The conference titled ‘Textte’ arranged by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) in collaboration with the KP Information Technology Board, AJK Tourism and Archaeology Department, Pakistan International Airlines, would debate on coronavirus pandemic ramifications and the steps to tackle the situation.

Stakeholders affiliated to the tourism sector, experts from Gilgit-Baltistan and hospitality sector, Special Assistant to Prime Minister and Chairman National Tourism Coordination Board Zulfi Bukhari, KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, GB Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, Pakistan International Airlines Chief Executive Officer Arshad Malik, World Bank’s Kiran Afzal, KP Tourism Secretary Abid Majid, secretary tourism Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gloria Guevara of World Travel and Tourism Council and others would attend the conference.

The conference is aimed at boosting an online network of stakeholders to tackle the bad impacts on the tourism, devising a strategy for promoting the sector and applying the modern day trends in tourism industry.

The organizers said that the conference would also help raise awareness among the tourists about the industry as how to proceed toward the better future. They said that various other topics, including future of tourism, coronavirus impacts on tourism, roadmap for tourist spots, role of aviation in tourism, tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the steps being taken for its future development, roadmap for incoming tourists from abroad, tourism affiliated employment opportunities for local populace, hospitality, tackling situation arising out of Covid-19 and future of international tourism, investment in tourism sector, media role in promotion of tourism and others would also come under discussion at the moot.
