Kristen Bell to lend her voice for upcoming project
America (8th Nov, 2019): American actress, Kristen Bell, is ready to reprise her role as the narrative voice in reboot of popular teen-centric series.
The Veronica Mars star is set to officially return as the voice of the iconic Gossip Girl in the sequel series as confirmed by E! News. While, the series is predominantly expected to be set in the same world as the original series created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, it will focus on new set of characters after an almost eight year gap.
According to E! News, the original characters will exist elsewhere as a new group of East Siders are introduced to the audience under the watchful eyes of the Gossip Girl. Moreover, the series is expected to comment on the evolution of New York city’s landscape and virtual presence following the finale of the original series written by Joshua Safran.
Kristen Bell who has to her fame, projects such as Frozen, Bad Moms and Good Place, is returning as the narrative voice of the Gossip Girl in each episode, however, the identity is expected to be different from the original as confirmed by series creator, Joshua Schwartz, that there is no longer any mystery revolving the identity of the mysterious gossip girl because everyone is a Gossip Girl. Continuing to comment on the series Schwartz added that revisiting the original cast grown up being controlled by the gossip girl would not have made a lot of sense so, “we felt like there was something really interesting about this idea that we are all Gossip Girl”.
Schwartz further commented that telling the story through a new generation of upper east side high school kids felt like the right time because “we are all purveyors of own social media surveillance state”.
Moreover, it has been confirmed that while no original cast members are expected to join, the voice behind Gossip Girl is and forever will be the uber-talented Kristen Bell. Schwartz argued that there is no one who could do justice to the voice of the mysterious narrator.
The sequel will be available on HBO Max which will reportedly be launching in May of 2020.
