The main runway of Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore has been temporarily closed for almost one and a half years due to maintenance and repair.
According to details, the main runway of Lahore Airport will be closed for a year and a half for repairs, however, the airport’s secondary runway 36L will be used as an alternative.
According to sources, the airport administration had sought permission to repair the main runway to which the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) allowed its repair.
The airport manager says that long-range and heavy aircraft will not be allowed to land at the airport. According to sources, the airlines have been directed to reduce the number of passengers and the amount of fuel.
The CAA has also issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), under which the secondary runway of Lahore Airport will be used. It may be recalled that even before this, Lahore Airport was closed for two months for repairs.
