Lahore Court Orders Arrest Warrants For Saba Qamar, Bilal Saeed

A Lahore district court on Wednesday issued bailable arrest warrants for actress Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed in a case of the alleged desecration of Wazir Khan mosque.

According to the details, Judicial Magistrate Jowaria Munir Bhatti issued bailable arrest warrants, while setting the bail at PKR 30,000 each, in connection with their dance video which they filmed in Masjid Wazir Khan after the two did not appear for a court hearing.

This case was filed under Section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which states about deliberately and maliciously insulting the religion or religious beliefs of any group of people. There was a short video clip of Qamar and Saeed at the historic mosque that went viral on social media.

How could Saba Qamar perform dance in a Holy mosque?
Case filed against Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed

It may be remembered that the actress Saba Qamar has shot a music video scene in the Wazir Khan Mosque located in Walled City, Lahore, the videos of which went viral on August 8, 2020. The song ‘Qubool’ has been sung by Bilal Saeed and the video marks the directorial debut of the actress. The artists should have kept in mind the sanctity of the Mosque and should have prohibited to shoot a music video in a holy mosque.

Public and Religious scholars have condemned that activity carried out by both the artists. People said that they have hurt the feelings of Muslims as well as desecrated the holy place, so action should be taken against both of them.

Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed finally apologize for their act

Saba Qamar, the actress-turned-director has shared her apology note on her Twitter account, stating that it was just a still moment captured in the mosque. However, no music was played in the Wazir Khan Masjid.
