Lahore police, Drug Controller initiate crackdown against medical stores

Lahore: On the directions of Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, Lahore police in collaboration with Chief Drug Controller has initiated crackdown against the medical stores involved in selling injection drugs to the addicts. Earlier Lahore police had provided list of 75 drug stores to the Chief Drug Controller, selling injection drugs to the addicts for joint action including registration of cases, huge penalties including sealing of medical stores and cancellation of their licenses. Lahore police along with Drug Inspectors took action against 33 medical stores, registered cases in relevant police stations, sealed and heavily fined the drug stores as well. CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has reiterated his resolve to make Provincial Capital Drug Free City as per vision of Chief Minister Punjab and IG Punjab. Lahore Police has also continued taking action against the drug dealers and arrested as many as 855 drug dealers have been arrested during last one and a half month and recovered from them333 kg of Chars, 05 kg of heroin, more than 04 kg of ICE and 7300 litres of liquor from the accused criminals. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said Lahore Police in collaboration and coordination of allied departments and sister agencies would continue the crackdown against big drug dealers and information sharing mechanism would be strengthened more for successful targeted operations. Lahore Police would not let any addicts gather on canal banks, under passes, road squares, footpaths or any other public places, CCPO added.
