Lahore: Two foreign investors abducted and robbed of Rs. 1.5 crore here on Wednesday.
How will foreign investors come to Pakistan under these circumstances?
The incident took place with Stephen Ehrhardt, a resident of Switzerland, and Maria Spari, a German magistrate. The two foreign investors came to Lahore from Zurich, Switzerland on February 10, 2021 and stayed at the PC Hotel.
A man named Rana Irfan Mahmood had lured these foreigners to Lahore, Pakistan, in an investment offer. Rana Irfan Mehmood took them to PC Hotel at 9.30 pm on the pretext of a meeting with the others and treating them to a meal.
After turning on some roads, he stopped the vehicle in a deserted place. After that, two more vehicles came and stopped there. He put the foreigners in a vehicle with a driver. An hour and a half later, he stopped the vehicle on a narrow road. There were three people in another car with weapons and a blue police light on the dashboard of the car.
They started sprinkling powdered drugs onto the foreigners’ clothes and blindfolded the two foreigners, taking them to a secluded tent. Mehmood and his accomplices robbed them of about $92,000 in Bitcoin and $7,647 in Euro, at gun-point, getting over $100,000 in total.
After that they tortured the foreigners and a man wearing a fake press shirt made a video of both of them. The accused demanded an additional Rs 300 million from them and said that the death penalty for drugs in Pakistan is death. If they do not pay Rs 300 million, they will make the video viral on national and international media.
The accused left the foreigners at a taxi stand on the promise of paying money to save their lives.
The Race Course Police Station has registered a case on behalf of UGS Company at the request of Ata Al Noor Saqib, a translator for foreign investors, however no accused has been arrested so far.
