LCCI urges the govt to extend the working hours of grocery stores

Lahore, 29th April: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Mian Tariq Misbah, Senior Vice President Nasir Hameed Khan and Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry have urged the government to extend the working hours of grocery stores and bakeries till 10 pm.

They said that the grocery stores, bakeries and confectioneries should be allowed to operate till at least ten o’clock at night as these important businesses are directly connected to the people. Increasing their working hours will be a great relief to the people.

In a statement, officials of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said that the business sector is suffering a lot due to the situation created by a coronavirus with limited working hours.
He said that increasing the working hours of grocery stores, bakeries and confectioneries would reduce the financial burden on the traders associated with this sector and would also bring great relief to the people so they would have extra hours to work with standard operating procedures.

He said that the business community is the backbone of the economy which is providing revenue to the government and employment to the people.

He added the increase in business hours would be a welcome decision and would help the business community deal with financial difficulties.

He also urged the people to take full precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
