Leading broadcaster Yawar Mehdi passed away

LAHORE: Leading Pakistani broadcaster and radio icon Yawar Mehdi has passed away after a long battle against illness.

Yawar Mehdi had been ill for a long time. His funeral prayers will be offered at Imambargah Kazmeen Sadat Colony Shah Faisal with Zuhr prayers, according to reports.

Yawar Mehdi has been associated with Radio Pakistan for a long time and was also the producer of the radio program Bazm-e-Talaba. Due to his services, Mehdi made a name for himself in the political, academic, and literary circles. Yawar Mehdi also played a significant role in the development of Arts Council Karachi.

Yawar Mehdi trained young poets and writers through Bazm-e-Talaba. He introduced many artists, poets, and writers.

It is to be noted that a few days prior, veteran actor Rashid Naz, was found dead. Funeral prayers of the famous actor were offered at Eid-gah Peshawar. According to reports, funeral prayers were attended by many people including relatives, fellow actors, and artists.

Earlier, Rashid Naz’s death was announced by his daughter-in-law and actress Madiha Rizvi through her Instagram account. Rizvi had said that Rashid Naz was no longer with us. “Our dearest Baba Rashid Naz Has left this world peacefully this morning. Please recite Sureh Fateha for the departed soul”. According to the family members, Rashi Naz was ill and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The Chief Minister Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed sorrow over the demise of actor Rashid Naz and said that they share the grief of the family equally. Rashid Naz’s services in the field of acting will be remembered.
