LHC announces its decision on Shehbaz Sharif’s bail plea

Lahore, 22nd April: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif has been granted bail by the Lahore High Court (LHC) in assets beyond sources case.

According to reports, three judges from LHC granted bail to Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday in a money laundering case.

Shehbaz Sharif’s bail application was heard by a three-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqir Najafi. Other judges include Justice Alia Neelam and Justice Shahbaz Rizvi.

A full bench was constituted by Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Qasim Khan on the dissenting note of Justice Asjad Javed Gharial.

PML-N leaders Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah, Rana Arshad, and other PML-N leaders were also present in the court on the occasion of Shehbaz Sharif’s bail application.

Shehbaz Sharif had filed a bail application in the Lahore High Court. The petition states that the reference of money laundering has been filed and the trial is going on. No transaction is in the name of Shehbaz Sharif.

Shehbaz Sharif said that he has been in jail for several months, all the records are with NAB and hence, the court should order his release on bail.

It should be noted that Shehbaz Sharif was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after his bail application was rejected. The court had sent him on judicial remand.
