LHC directs PEMRA to run Smog Awareness Campaign on TV channels
The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to launch an awareness campaign regarding smog on television (TV) channels.
According to details, a petition was heard in the LHC against the non-implementation from the city authorities to curb smog in the provincial capital of Punjab. In this regard, the court asked the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) director why the smog situation in the city was not clear.
The PDMA director told the court that low temperature in the area causing the smog, it will come to an end in few days. Furthermore, Mayor Lahore in his statement said that brick kilns are still running.

The court directed PEMRA to run an awareness campaign on smog on TV channels, saying “don’t tell in the awareness message that the Punjab government has launched a plan to curb smog.”
Moreover, the LHC directed the Water Commission to resolve their functioning issues in educational institutions and adjourned further hearing till December 16, 2021.
