LHC issues notification for removal of Arshad Malik

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday issued a notification for the removal of Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik, who ruled against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to the reports, the Lahore High Court has issued a notification for the removal of Judge Arshad Malik, a judge of the Accountability Court and a key figure in the video scandal.
The notification said that the allegations made against Arshad Malik during the investigation proved to be true, after which the inquiry committee recommended his dismissal.
The notification said that Judge Arshad Malik was given ample opportunity to present his case but failed to prove his innocence on the basis of which he was removed from office.
It may be recalled that on July 3, the Lahore High Court had dismissed Judge Arshad Malik involved in a video blackmailing case.The decision was taken by an executive committee headed by Chief Justice Lahore High Court Qasim Khan after the investigation into the video scandal was completed.
Seven senior judges of the Lahore High Court’s executive committee decided to dismiss Arshad Malik. The committee comprised of Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti, Prince Ahmad Khan, Sajjad Ali Khan, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Shahid Waheed and Justice Ali Baqir Najafi.
It may be recalled that Arshad Malik was a judge in the accountability court of Islamabad. He had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to seven years in the corruption case on December 24, 2012 and acquitted him in the flagship case.
