Libya’s Prime Minister narrowly escapes assassination attempt
TRIPOLI: Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh’s car was fired upon, however, he has survived while the assailants have managed to escape from the scene. According to reports of British news agency Reuters, early on Thursday morning, the attackers shot at the car of Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, but he managed to escape unharmed. According to sources, the assassination attempt was made when the Prime Minister was on his way home. Libya’s opposition has called for a vote against PM Dbeibeh in parliament, declaring the government incompetent. However, PM Dbeibeh says that he does accept the notion of voting for an alternate Prime Minister. It is pertinent to note that the armed forces have mobilized more fighters and equipment in the capital in recent weeks, leading to fears that a political crisis may result in further conflict.
