Lionsgate Television announces “Twilight” series in the making
LOS ANGELES: Fan favorite Twilight Saga is getting an anticipated television reboot, said Lionsgate Television confirming that the series is in “early development”.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Stephanie Meyer’s beloved vampire saga is about to get its TV reboot with Sinead Daly of Tell Me Lies, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and others set to work on the script. According to sources, Daly along with Lionsgate TV are working on the direction the series will be taking – a remake of the books or a different “offshoot”.

So far, the series is in its early development stages and does not have a network/platform associated with it. According to sources, this is because the studio plans to lead the development before “shopping rights to the package”. At the moment, there is no set timeline for when the anticipated series will be taken out to potential buyers. On the other hand, author Stephanie Meyer is expected to be a part of the television adaptation.
According to reports, Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig (formerly of Summit Entertainment) are both part of the project as executive producers. The two were also associated with the popular movie franchise that grossed over $3.4 billion across the globe with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the leads alongside Taylor Lautner.

Earlier in 2017, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer informed Wall Street, “There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories”. On the other hand, Lionsgate TV recently announced it was planning to revive Spartacus (2010) with a sequel series.
Meanwhile, as studios look toward adapting previously well-loved movie franchises, Twilight joins the ranks with Harry Potter being adapted by HBO Max. Another adaptation in the making includes The Lord of the Rings.
