Usman Buzdar also appeared before the NAB office on August 12 on the matter, while during the NAB investigation, 2 officers have also come forward as promised witnesses.
Until the decision of the petition, the Election Commission should order the suspension of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar. On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has submitted a 12-page reply to the NAB through a lawyer. Answering 17 questions, Usman Buzdar said that no illegal act was committed on the issue of liquor license. It did not play a role in the issuance of liquor licenses.
Who is likely to replace Usman Buzdar as CM Punjab?
Director General (DG) Excise and Taxation has the authority to license liquor. The first summary of the issuance of DG Excise license was sent back. Akram Ashraf issued the license and sent the summary to the secretariat again. So far, 9 out of 11 liquor licenses have been issued by DG Excise. The licenses were issued by the governor in 2000 and 2001.
An intra-court appeal against the single bench decision of the High Court is still pending. It may be recalled that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had appeared before the NAB on August 12. The NAB had given a questionnaire to the Chief Minister on unsatisfactory answers.
