The 22-year-old Nobel Prize winner has recently graduated from Oxford University. She had expressed her joy and gratitude after completing her degree from the prestigious institution.
However, some students of Lahore University of Management Sciences have asked the administration to ‘dis-invite’ girls rights activist Malala Yousafzai from the varsity’s annual convocation, saying that she is ‘anti-state’.
Though the university management hasn’t made any official announcement about it, LUMS students are divided over Malala’s presence at their graduation ceremony. There are claims on social media that some students are preferring singer Bilal Khan over Malala at their convocation.

The students have written to Vice-Chancellorellor of the university expressing their reservations over having her as the keynote speaker at the convocation.
An Associate Professor at LUMS tweeted that the students have said that they “come from army families and that Malala is anti-state”.
One reason put forth by some of our students for disinviting Malala is that they come from army families and that Malala is anti-state. What does this even mean? Didn’t the same army eventually operate against the very people Malala stood against?

However, he clarified that students who wrote to the VC do not represent the entire student body.
Where is our Education System going?
Folks: I want to clarify that only a small cohort of students expressed this opinion. Please don’t think that these sentiments extend across the entire student body.

Meanwhile, social media users including LUMS alumni are appalled by the students not wanting Malala Yousafzai to speak at their convocation.
I used to think all LUMS students are highly intellectual but when I found out that some of them wanna invite Bilal Khan instead of Malala Yousafzai as a keynote speaker at graduation, guess maybe going to a fancy ass university can’t change you if you’re a pretentious bastard ☺️

There are conflicting views about Malala ever since she was shot on the head by the Taliban in 2012. Soon, she left for the UK and found her second home there.
