Mayor of Karachi loses hope amid heavy rains

Karachi, 7th August: Due to the heavy rain in Karachi, and no resources to deal with it, the mayor of Karachi has raised his hands.

According to the report of Baaghi TV, Mayor of Karachi, Waseem Akhtar has said that the whole country is aware of the measures taken in Karachi.

Wasim Akhtar said that KMC does not have the resources to clean the drains, they are cleaning 38 drains in collaboration with Sindh government.

NDMA is cleaning 4 major drains, the overall situation in Karachi is better. The sewerage system is destroyed, there is no drainage, the low-lying areas are being flooded.

Wasim Akhtar further said that the rains in Karachi are very heavy for which there are no resources to deal with. The drains have not been cleaned since June 2018, there is no sewerage and disposal system. Drains cannot be cleaned until the system is improved.

The Sindh government is responsible for the management of KMC, they should work instead of blaming each other.

It is reported that Karachi pays 95% tax to Sindh, and so KMC is feeding the entire Sindh government.
