Thunberg also issued a strong statement on Twitter after backlash by the Indian government.

She wrote, “I still #StandWithFarmers and support their peaceful protest. No amount of hate, threats or violations of human rights will ever change that. #FarmersProtest.”

Earlier, Baaghi TV reported that India has threatened to take legal action against the climate activist Greta Thunberg for making sensationalist Twitter comments on farmer protests.

Many Indian celebrities, sportspersons and politicians spoke out in favour of the Modi government and condemned the foreign interference in their matters.

Social media storm got triggered after the US singer Rihanna tweeted a news article by CNN to draw the world attention to the Farmers’ protest in India.

It is pertinent to note here that tens of thousands of farmers have camped on the outskirts of New Delhi since November 2020 to protest against government action to deregulate produce markets.
