According to reports, the mega money laundering reference was heard in the accountability court of Islamabad. Asif Zardari has requested to remove the mega money laundering reference. In a petition filed in the court, former president Asif Ali Zardari took a stand that the side reference in the money laundering case should be removed and acquitted.
The NAB opposed Asif Zardari’s request and took the position that the date of the indictment has been fixed. Asif Zardari is adopting delaying tactics. The court issued notice to NAB on the request of Asif Zardari. The accountability court adjourned the indictment against Asif Ali Zardari in the money laundering reference till September 17th.
According to reports the accountability court has issued a 17-page charge sheet of Park Lane Company reference. The charge sheet states that Asif Zardari made a fake company Parthenon through Younis Qadwai and Iqbal Memon. Asif Ali Zardari transferred money from the fake company to his own company’s account.
The charge sheet said that Rs 1.5 billion was circulated in fake accounts to cover up the criminal proceedings. Asif Zardari said that he understood all the allegations and would reject them and defend himself.

He said that he rejects all the allegations. After the indictment, Asif Zardari and Accountability Court Judge Azam Khan had a discussion. Asif Zardari, while talking to the judge, said, “You should write that the lawyer was in the Supreme Court, yet you indicted him.” If you give ruling that there is no lawyer, then you fight your own case.
Judge Azam Khan said, “Should I oversee the ruling?” I can’t force a lawyer to go to court, you can’t ask me to give a ruling. The court inquired whether he had committed fraud by taking illegal loan through Front Company Parthenon. To which former President Asif Ali Zardari replied that he rejects all the allegations. He added that the court officials should visit Karachi to see this building as well.

Iqbal Memon, under-aged Bilawal, Rehmatullah, Muhammad Younis, Altaf Hussain were my partners. I only owned 25% of Park Lane company and resigned as company director on September 1, 2008 before becoming the President.
