Meghan Markle's donation a 'lifesaver' for community kitchen users

Nottingham, England: Meghan Markle, the duchess of Sussex, recently made a donation which served as a lifesaver for users at a community kitchen in Nottingham as reported by the charity.

A donation of £10,000 was received by a charity which forwarded half of the sum to a joint Muslim-Jewish kitchen known as Salaam Shalom Kitchen. The donation proved quite auspicious in coping up with the increase in demands during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Salaam Shalom Kitchen runs a charity which is the only one of its kind across the United Kingdom (UK) and can serve up to 170 free meals in Hyson Green per week – up from about 70 a week prior to the pandemic.

The charity trustee Bilal Hussain stated that, “The Duchess’s contribution has been a lifesaver for many, many people.”

“Those funds have allowed us to deal with the constant increase and for that we’re massively grateful,” he further added.
