Meta cancels Jada Pinkett Smith's 'Red Table Talk' | Baaghi TV

Meta has reportedly canceled its original Red Table Talk hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith and daughter Willow Smith after five seasons. 

The online talkshow, an original of Facebook Watch, has been canceled after five seasons but it might not be an end as Pinkett Smith expressed hope to renew it on another network. The talkshow hosted by Jada Pinkett Smith, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and daughter Willow Smith has run its course with Meta.

On April 27, the talkshow host took to the social networking platform Instagram, owned by Meta, to announce the news. Pinkett Smith wrote: “We are so grateful to have had such a beautiful partnership with Facebook Watch and we are sorry to see the entire team disband”. The 51-year-old further wrote, “We wish everyone well in their new journeys to come”.

Pinkett Smith added that the Red Table Talk team is in “talks of finding a new home and we’ll see you soon”. The Nutty Professor (1996) star captioned the post with: “It was the journey for me”. According to Deadline, the cancelation comes as Facebook shifts from original programming to “Virtual Reality” experiences. Meanwhile, Mina Lefevre who headed Development and Programming at Meta is also leaving

The mother-daughter duo have reflected on the show in previous seasons, and what it means to them. In February 2021, Willow Smith told Rolling Stone: “We saw how much it helps us”. Smith, 22, added that the thought behind Red Table Talk was, “I wonder if we can give this feeling to others.”

Talking about the impact of the show, Pinkett Smith said: “To be able to sit as three black women and see the variety of perspectives is really interesting”. The Madagascar (2005) star added, “I know a lot of people just like to put black women in one big old pot. That myth has to be dissolved.”
