Miftah Ismael claims IMF deal in a day or two

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail on Monday claimed and expressed his hope that International Monitory Fund IMF deal will be be revived in a day or two.

Miftah Ismail while talking to reporters in Parliament House said that he hoped that the IMF program would be revived in a day or two.

The minister responding to the protesting federal government employees clerified that pay hike has nothing to do with IMF deal.

He pinned hopes the IMF program will be revived.

“I have no objection to the increase in salaries”.

Miftah Ismail further clarified that the IMF has no objection to income tax exemption on income of Rs 12 lakh andincome tax exemption on income of Rs 12 lakh will be maintained.

He said that relief will be given to poor people and tax will be levied on rich.

It is to be noted that the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Ayesha Ghous Pasha, had yesterday said that government has been seeking help from the United States on the IMF issue.

Talking to media after the standing committee, Dr Ayesha Ghous Pasha said that talks were underway with the IMF as international lender sought clarifications on multiple areas.
