Miscreants involved in attack on temple deserve no concession: IGP
Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that the miscreants involved in the attack on the temple in Rahim Yar Khan do not deserve any concession and immediate action has been taken against the accused involved in this tragic incident and three separate cases have been registered including the provisions of terrorism while a total of 52 people, including the main accused involved in the incident, have been arrested. He further said that police teams were not only conducting raids but also conducting search operations in different areas of the city to arrest the remaining accused as soon as possible. He further said that people of all religions, Ethnicities and sects living in the country are Pakistani citizens whose property, sacred places and best security of places of worship is the top priority of Punjab government and Punjab Police. He further said that the arrested accused have been produced for identity parade in the terrorism court and sent to jail on judicial remand while full legal action is being taken against the elements who provoked the citizens and incited them to mischief. He further said that the restoration work of Rahim Yar Khan temple under the supervision of Punjab government has been started which will be completed in the next few days while all the expenses incurred on the damage to the temple and restoration will be recovered from the accused. He further said that he was directly monitoring the incident of attack on the temple and the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Chief Minister of Punjab were being kept informed about the progress being made in the case. He said that, the act has damaged Pakistan’s international identity against which action is not being delayed and all the accused who have tarnished Pakistan’s image at the international level will be given exemplary punishment. He expressed these views while presiding a meeting with officers in the camp office today. During the meeting, the temple attack case and the progress made on it were reviewed in detail while the IG Punjab also issued important instructions regarding the incident.
