Modern professional training of police force is a matter of time: IG
Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Inam Ghani has said that in order to promote people-friendly policing and timely eradication of crimes, the best professional training of the force as per the modern requirements of the force is the need of the hour so that officers and officials may perform the duties of service and safety with full diligence. He further said that a complete roadmap has been prepared for the transformation of Punjab Police from Crime Fighting Force into a people friendly service in the “Citizen Centric Policing Conference”. So that identity and image of Punjab Police as a people friendly police force may be made better by improving and focussing training and Investigation wings. He further said that Additional IG Investigation should visit two regions every month to improve the quality of investigation and monitor the timely distribution of cost of investigation and also review the performance of regional and district monitoring units. He further said that the only way to minimize the crime rate is to get the convicts sentenced and punished through the best investigation so that the free registration of crimes as well as the workout rate of cases may be improved. He further said that a detailed report on the deployment of additional personnel in the investigation department of all the districts should be submitted within a week and in the districts where the required number of personnel have not been deployed yet, the personnel should be met within a week and explanation should be sought from those who caused any delay in this regard. He further said that in addition to improving public service delivery to promote confidence building between the police and the public, immediate steps should be taken in the light of citizen feedback to maintain the effectiveness of projects initiated through efficient use of information technology and new features should keep on increasing. He expressed these views while giving instructions to the officers during a high level meeting held at the Central Police Office here today. During the meeting, issues related to further improvement in the training and investigation of the force were reviewed in detail.
Instructing the officers, the IG Punjab further said that for further improvement in the training modules, consultative meetings should be held with the principals of the training institutes and special courses on public dealing and stress management should be imparted to the trainees along with training courses. He further said that police teams have to play their role more actively in crime prevention while supervisory officers have to make their role more effective in improving the conviction rate. He further added there should a huge focus on victim friendly policing and mutual coordination between police and citizens should be improved by courteous and polite behavior. Additional IG Investigation Fayyaz Ahmed Dev, Additional IG Welfare and Finance Farooq Mazhar, Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan, DIG Operations Sohail Sukhera, DIG Crimes / Investigation Sharaq Kamal Siddiqui, AIG Development Capt. (R) Muhammad Ali Zia and AIG Operation Syed Zeeshan Raza and other officers were also present in the meeting. We
