More Afghan Deportations from Pakistan Remain Possible
Pakistani media outlets have reported the possibility of resuming the deportation of Afghan migrants holding Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) cards.
According to reports, several Afghan migrants have been arrested by police in various cities across Pakistan.
“Some migrants, whom the police summoned due to their documents, were told to return to their place of residence,” said Pakistani journalist Tahir Khan.
Meanwhile, some Afghan migrants in Pakistan have expressed concerns about the situation and called for their issues to be addressed.
“The Afghan ambassador here is more active, but they need to find a solution to this problem so that Afghans can escape these challenges,” said Ehsan Ahmadzai, an Afghan migrant in Pakistan.
Navid Danishyar, an activist for migrant rights, said: “International organizations, especially IOM and UNHCR, should take concrete steps, including strengthening comprehensive cooperation between host countries and international organizations.”
However, the Pakistani government has not yet commented on the deportation of undocumented Afghan migrants.
Earlier, the Pakistani interior minister announced that after the end of 2024, Afghan citizens without legal documents would not be allowed to stay in Islamabad.
