More deaths as Covid-19 positivity surges

ISLAMABAD: As per data released by the National Institute of Health (NIH), four more people lost their lives to the coronavirus on Saturday as the positivity rate also has also risen to 4%. 

The data further revealed that 18,305 tests were conducted in the past day, out of which 818 people have tested positive for the virus.

Furthermore, the data released by NIH through their Twitter handle also revealed that 126 patients are currently on critical care.

Federal Minister of Pakistan for Health Mr. Abdul Qadir Patel stated that his department was taking all necessary measures to control the spread of covid-19.

The minister urged citizens to abide by all the standard operating procedures (SOPs), including wearing a mask, maintaining a social distance of 6 feet and carrying a hand sanitizer at all times.

Spokesperson for the Health ministry said that all SOPs as directed by the government and the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) for government offices should be followed, including washing hands frequently, wearing a mask and maintaining social distance.

The spokesperson further urged that social distancing must be ensured during all acts of worship as well. He added that shaking hands shall be avoided and hand sanitizers shall be made available at the entrance door of offices and washrooms.

The spokesperson said that temperatures should be checked at the entrances of offices and anybody having coronavirus symptoms shall not be allowed to enter the premises of the building.
