More than 16,000 homes destroyed by Israeli bombing, Palestinians waiting for help
According to Baaghi TV reports 11 days of Israeli bombardment and airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have resulted in heavy casualties and financial losses, with over 16,000 homes destroyed.
In addition to the hundreds of Palestinians killed and injured, including women and children, dozens of buildings in the Gaza Strip have collapsed, homes have been reduced to rubble, and it could take years for them to be rebuilt.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has announced $500 million for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. Accurate figures on the damage to the Gaza Strip have not yet been released. However, the Ministry of Housing in Gaza says that 16,800 residential houses have been damaged in 11 days, of which 1,800 units are uninhabitable and 1,000 units have been completely destroyed.
According to Mohammed Sabit, a spokesman for the power distribution station in the Gaza Strip, the population had been receiving electricity for 12 hours since the start of the Israeli operation, which has now increased to three to four hours. Damage to greenhouses, farmland, and poultry farms as a result of the attacks and bombings is estimated at $27 million.
Sky News Arabia Channel quoted Palestinian politician and international relations adviser Osama Shaath as saying that this time the cost of reconstruction will be higher than in 2014.
