Lahore, 14th October: Motorway rapist Abid Malhi wasn’t arrested, he surrendered, alleges his father.

Baaghi TV: Father of the main suspect of the Motorway Rape Case has alleged that the police had not caught his son rather the suspect had turned himself in after having escaped the Punjab police for a month.

As per reports from The Current, Abid Malhi’s father released a video on Tuesday stating the above after police arrested Malhi a day ago from Faisalabad.

Reportedly, the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Special Branch of the police, and other agencies had tipped off Punjab police about the whereabouts of the suspect before the arrest was made, but the father’s video alleges that Malhi had called the police himself and that the arrest was made from Lahore’s Manga Mandi area.

Abid Malhi, the culprit who had raped a woman on the Lahore Motorway in compliance with his partner, had run off from the scene. Now almost a month after the horrendous incident the main accused has been caught.

His father has demanded the release of the womenfolk of the family from the police arrest, who had been apprehended by the police after the incident.

“Abid had expressed his wish to come home. At 6:30 pm, he returned,” his father said. “Abid was sent to the Crime Investigation Agency’s (CIA),” he claimed.

On the contrary, Punjab Inspector-General Police (IGP) Inam Ghani said that the suspect had been arrested by police.

Malhi had been on the run since September 9, when it was reported that two robbers had allegedly gang-raped a mother of three on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway in an area falling within Gujjarpura police’s jurisdiction.

The woman, along with her children, was driving to Gujranwala when she was forced to stop at the Gujjarpura section of the motorway after running out of fuel.
