Motorway Sexual Abuse: Police system has failed, court remarks in abuse case, big order given

According to reports, DIG Legal presented the report in the court. Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Muhammad Qasim Khan while giving remarks said that the government is responsible if any such incident occurs on the motorway or any road. How can compensation be given to the affected people?

Police told the court that there is an effective patrolling system in the whole of Punjab. The public prosecutor said that an effective patrolling system is being set up everywhere.

The court summoned the schedule of weekly patrols of IG Punjab. The court also summoned the schedule of patrols of DPOs across Punjab. Chief Justice Qasim Khan heard the public interest litigation of Nadeem Sarwar Advocate, in which IG Punjab and CCPO and others have been made parties, the petitioner said that the incidents of abuse in Punjab are increasing day by day. Yes, Punjab Police has failed to prevent cases of abuse. The CCPO made an irresponsible statement regarding the incident. A Judicial Commission should be constituted to investigate the Motorway tragedy, and order to call for all records of incidents of abuse during the last five years.

It is to be noted that a very tragic incident of gang rape of a woman on the motorway took place in Gujjarpura area of Lahore. Two men smashed a car window on the motorway and pulled the woman and her children out, then took them to nearby bushes and allegedly raped the woman in front of the children.

A woman from Gujranwala was on her way to Gujranwala from Lahore. She was waiting for her husband after stopping her car on the motorway due to running out of petrol. At first the woman called a relative.

The woman received a reply on the motorway helpline that no one has been allotted the Gujratpura bait yet and the motorway police have not come. Before the arrival of the relatives, two persons raped the woman. The accused also took Rs. 100,000 in cash, gold jewelry and ATM cards from the woman.
