A swearing-in ceremony of Sialkot Professional Print and Electronic Media Association was held at a local hotel on Tuesday.
Senior journalist and anchor person Mubasher Lucman was the chief guest of the ceremony.
During the ceremony, Mubasher Lucman administered the oath to the officials of the association.
On this occasion the executive producer of the program Khara Sach Rao Owais Mehtab, Kazim Naqvi and Mumtaz Awan were also present.
At the end of the ceremony, Sialkot Professional Print and Electronic Media Association gave commemorative shields to the guests.
Speaking at the event, Mubasher Lucman said that he came to his city Sialkot.
Commenting on the freedom of the press, Lucman said no journalist is free as he is worried because of his livelihood as problems of journalists are not getting salaries.
He said media houses committed downsizing and the offices were closed and even salaries are very low and given as favors.
Senior journalist said journalists are fighting with each other and irony is journalists are less spotted in press clubs and other people are found easily in the press club.
He said Sialkot is a city and its citizens build their own roads without the help of the government.
“They build roads, build airlines, but the journalists of Sialkot have closed their own press club, people say that journalism should be free,” he added.
Mubasher Lucman further said if you want to reach the height of journalism, you have to struggle for it.
He stressed journalists to improve their skills and take advantage of the new mediums on social media and support each other.
He said there are 55 cases against him altogether which are still going on.
He said there are only 28 non-bailable warrants issued against while bailable ones are sperate.
Chairman Professional Electronic and Print Media Association Sialkot Khurram Mir said that he welcomed senior anchor person Mubasher Lucman in the swearing-in ceremony.
He said it is an honor for the association Mubasher Lucman came here.
He said professional association has been working for eight years. He said Mubasher Lucman is a superstar.
Majlis-e-Amila Shahid Riaz, Chairman of Professional Electronic and Print Media Association, said that the coming of Mubasher Lucman is a source of joy for association.
He said it is important to bring the facts before the people.
