Mukesh Ambani, family get threat calls; one detained

Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his family received three threat calls on Monday, August 15. The calls were received on the number of Reliance Foundation’s Harskisandas Hospital around 10:30 am.

The suspect, in his mid 50s, was brought from Dahisar to DB Marg police station in South Mumbai.

In a statement, the Mumbai Police had said: “Reliance Foundation has filed a complaint about the threat calls to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family. More than three calls were received at the hospital. A probe is underway.”

According to the latest update received, a man was detained in the Dahisar area in the western suburbs of Mumbai for his alleged connection to the threat calls.

Officials from Reliance Industries and a senior doctor from the hospital recorded their statements at the DB Marg police station later in the day.

Last year, a Scorpio car with 20 explosive gelatin sticks and a threat letter was found outside Mukesh Ambani’s Mumbai residence ‘Antilia’. As soon as the police were informed, several cops — including Mumbai’s crime intelligence unit headed by Sachin Vaze — reached the spot for investigation. Sachin Vaze took over as the lead investigator in the case.
