Mumbai Police have received a threatening message targeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The message, which was sent via WhatsApp, was received on the traffic police helpline during the early hours of the day.

Indian police officials said that the message claimed that two persons were involved in a plot to carry out a bomb blast with the intention of assassinating Narendra Modi..

The police have expressed their suspicion that the sender may be a mentally disturbed individual or potentially someone under the influence of alcohol at the time of sending the threat. However, investigations are still ongoing to verify the details of the threat.

The Mumbai Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It is noteworthy that the Mumbai traffic police helpline has received hoax threats on multiple occasions in the past.
