Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson of the Peace and Culture Organization, Former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, and wife of incarcerated Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat, a revered Kashmiri intellectual and former Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
In her statement, Mushaal described Professor Bhat as “a towering voice of conscience, a scholar of rare depth, and a steadfast advocate of a peaceful, just resolution to the Jammu & Kashmir dispute.” She noted that his unwavering belief in dialogue and non-violence stood as a beacon of hope for generations of Kashmiris seeking dignity and freedom.
“Professor Bhat’s life reminds us that true leadership is rooted in wisdom, patience, and moral courage. Even under oppression and personal sacrifice, he upheld the principles of peace and justice. His vision for a peace settlement continues to inspire Yasin Malik and all who dream of an end to conflict,” she said.
Mushaal extended her heartfelt condolences to Professor Bhat’s family, colleagues, and followers, praying for Allah to grant him the highest rank in Jannah and to give patience to the bereaved. She emphasized that his contributions will remain a guiding light in the struggle for peace and self-determination in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Peace and Culture Organization also called upon regional and global stakeholders to honor Professor Bhat’s legacy by redoubling efforts for a peaceful and inclusive dialogue to resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute.
