LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has prepared a lengthy and strong reference based on evidences in the money laundering case against opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif.

According to details, the reference exposes the money laundering activities of Shahbaz Sharif and his family. The reference consists of 58 volumes and the number of pages provided to the accused is more than 500,000.

Sources said that the money laundering mechanism of Shahbaz Sharif and his family has been exposed in the reference while full details of Salman Shahbaz and the network have been revealed in the form of volumes. According to sources, Shahbaz Sharif’s anonymous assets were found to be worth more than Rs 7 billion while anonymous companies, shares and accounts proved to be Shahbaz Sharif’s property worth billions.

It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan had said that Shahzad Akbar, Advisor on Accountability, had been questioning Shahbaz Sharif for a long time. However, now the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President has been asked only 4 questions.

The Accountability Adviser said that the financial monitoring unit had detected 177 suspicious transactions of Shahbaz Sharif’s family after which NAB started probe. The word “organized money laundering” has been written in the reference.

The reference is very strong and consists of 55 volumes and 25,000 pages of documentary evidence against the Sharifs, including company records, bank statements and foreign remittances.
