The National Security Committee (NSC) meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The forum started by offering Fateha for the innocent civilians martyred in the Indian attacks, expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. The NSC deliberated in detail on the grave situation arising out of India’s unprovoked, cowardly and illegal military action.
On the night of 6/7 May 2025, the Indian Armed Forces carried out coordinated missile, air and drone strikes on the sovereign territory of Pakistan, including areas of Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, and Bahawalpur in Punjab, and the areas of Kotli and Muzaffarabad in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

India targets Pakistan’s Water Resources, Attacks Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Project
These unprovoked and unjustified attacks deliberately targeted civilian areas, falsely justified by the presence of fictitious terrorist camps. These attacks resulted in the martyrdom of innocent men, women and children, and damage to civilian infrastructure, including mosques. India’s aggression also posed serious threats to commercial flights of brotherly Gulf countries, endangering the lives of thousands of passengers. In addition, the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project was also deliberately targeted, in a clear violation of international agreements.
The NSC strongly condemned these illegal acts, calling them a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity which fall under the category of war crimes under international law. The targeting of innocent civilians, especially women and children, by Indian forces is a grave and shameful crime that goes against all human values and international law.
Pakistan has always effectively rejected the Indian allegations, which are based on the claim of the presence of terrorist camps on its soil. It may be recalled that immediately after April 22, 2025, Pakistan offered a credible, transparent and impartial investigation, which was unfortunately not accepted. International media representatives had already visited these “so-called terrorist camps” on May 6, 2025, and further visits were planned for May 7, 2025. However, fearing that their lies would be exposed, without any evidence, the Indian leadership has now tried in vain to cover up their baseless claims by attacking innocent civilians. Attacking the innocent people of Pakistan is not acceptable or tolerable under any circumstances. India has once again set the region on fire and India bears full responsibility for the situation that has arisen as a result.

The Pakistani Armed Forces, within the framework of the right to defend and respond as outlined in the NSC statement of April 22, 2025, defended the territorial integrity of Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and responded effectively to Indian aggression, downing five Indian fighter jets and unmanned drones.
According to Article 51 of the UN Charter, Pakistan reserves the right to respond in self-defense, at a time, place and manner of its own choosing, to avenge the loss of innocent Pakistani lives and the violation of its sovereignty. The Pakistani armed forces have been vested with full powers in this regard.
With deep sorrow and grief over India’s blatant aggression, the entire Pakistani nation appreciates the valor of its armed forces and the timely steps taken to defend the motherland. The nation is united and determined to counter all forms of aggression.
The NSC calls on the international community to recognize the seriousness of India’s unprovoked illegal actions and hold it accountable for its flagrant violation of international laws and norms.
Pakistan remains committed to an honorable and dignified peace and reiterates once again that it will never allow any harm to its sovereignty, territorial integrity, or its proud people.
