LAHORE (29th Oct, 2019): The medical board at Services Hospital Lahore will hold examination of under-treatment former PM Nawaz Sharif as his platelets count has continued to fluctuate.

According to details from medical board, the doctors have not yet decided on transfusing more mega kits into the former Prime Minister.

Dr Mehmood Ayyaz, in an informal talk to media, said steroids and injections administered to Nawaz to raise platelet count have created more problems for him as his kidneys are being affected badly.

Sources said that platelets of Nawaz Sharif have been recorded at 28,000 and angiography is not possible due to fluctuation in platelets count.

On 21st October, Nawaz Sharif was rushed to the hospital after his platelets dropped to a dangerously low level with his doctors raising alarming concerns.

Dr Adnan Khan, a personal physician of Sharif, had informed about his deteriorating health, urging the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government to immediately shift him to the hospital for treatment.

Later, incarcerated former PM was diagnosed with acute immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a disorder that leads to an abrupt and sharp drop in blood platelets, according to a medical board.

Keeping in view the health condition of the ex-premier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) and Lahore High Court (LHC) had granted bails to him in Al-Azizia reference and Chaudhry Sugar Mills case apiece.

Sharif was sentenced to seven years in prison in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference on 24 December 2018. Rs1.5 billion and US $25 million fine, a disqualification of 10 years from holding any public office was part of the sentences awarded to the former premier.
