Nawaz Sharif’s property and assets to be confiscated

Lahore, 1st October: The accountability court has ordered the confiscation of PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s property and assets in the Tosha Khana reference.

Accountability court judge Syed Asghar Ali has issued property confiscation orders. NAB submitted a report of Nawaz Sharif’s assets in the accountability court on the court’s order.

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s assets include details of properties, vehicles and bank accounts, in the name of former prime minister.

Nawaz Sharif owns more than 1650 canals of agricultural land in Lahore, including Mercedes, Land Cruiser and 2 tractors, details of domestic and foreign accounts in the name of Nawaz Sharif in Lahore’s private bank have also been included.

According to the report, Nawaz Sharif’s bungalow in Murree and 102 canals of agricultural land in Sheikhupura are also included.

Asif Zardari and Yousuf Raza Gilani have been charged in the Tosha Khana reference too. Asif Zardari used the vehicles himself instead of depositing them in the treasury.

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif has been declared a fugitive.

The court was quoted by the NAB as saying that Nawaz Sharif was not in any government post in 2008. Despite this, Nawaz Sharif was provided with a government vehicle from the treasury without any request.

It should be noted that in January this year, in the Executive Board meeting chaired by Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, the corruption reference against former President Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Yousuf Raza Gilani was approved.

Nawaz Sharif and Yousuf Raza Gilani have been questioned about the vehicles of the accused.

It is to be noted that NAB is investigating the personal use of gifts in the Tosha Khana case. In this regard, NAB had also investigated Nawaz Sharif in jail and had sought permission from the court for the same.

Investigating officer Raheel Azam, deputy director NAB had asked the court to allow Nawaz Sharif to be interrogated as an accused. The car was gifted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan by Saudi Arabia in 1997. NAB had questioned Nawaz Sharif in jail.
