Nawazuddin Siddiqui seeks settlement with ex-wife
India: Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has now sought settlement with his estranged wife and sent a “settlement draft” to his wife Aaliya’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee. This comes a day after the actor filed a Rs 100 crore defamation suit against his former wife and brother.
Aaliya’s lawyer has questioned the timing of this settlement draft and said that any consent term drawn between the two parties would include withdrawal of the defamation suit for any settlement between the actor and his estranged wife.
The actor and his estranged wife have to appear before the Bombay high court on Monday, March 27. The court, while hearing a petition filed by the actor’s wife seeking quashing of the FIR registered by his family, had said that the two should amicably settle the issues between them.
Following this, on Saturday evening, advocate Rizwan Siddiquee received a draft of the proposed settlement from the actor’s lawyer which said, “These consent terms are open for discussion. We expect to receive your proposed terms before the hearing, which is on 27th March, 2023.”
On March 23, during a hearing of a habeas corpus petition that had been filed by Siddiqui himself asking for his children to be produced, both Siddiqui’s lawyer as well as his wife’s lawyer had told another bench of the Bombay High Court that they were willing to put all issues behind them for the sake of their children.
